My Quest for the Perfect Curly Hair Products

I have curly hair and I'm always on the lookout for new products as I haven't found my holy grail product for taming my curls yet.  I decided last weekend while out shopping to buy a few curl products I haven't tried before to see if there are any really great products out there.  Join me on my quest.
John Frieda Frizz Ease Range Curl Reviver Mousse and Unwind Curls Calming Creme
I bought a couple of products from the John Frieda Frizz Ease Range.  Curl Reviver Mousse and Unwind Curls Calming Creme.
Umberto Giannini Curl Friends Ultimate Curl Nourishing Oil and Lee Stafford HerE come the CurLs
I also bought Umberto Giannini Curl Friends Ultimate Curl Nourishing Oil and Lee Stafford HerE come the CurLs.
Schwarzkopf got2b Beach matt mermaid look Texturizing Salt Spray
Finally I bought Schwarzkopf got2b Beach matt mermaid look Texturizing Salt Spray.

I haven't tested them out yet but just wanted to show you what I'd bought so far.

Also on my wish list are some products from the Aveda Be Curly range but I'm waiting for an offer from somewhere like Harvey Nichols before I splurge.

I will post a review of the products when I've used them.

If any of you have any recommendations I'd love to hear from you.

Tommy Guns Smooth & Finish Creme Review

I just thought I would let you know about Tommy Guns Smooth & Finish Creme. It’s a brand that I haven’t tried before, but I thought I would give this product a go, because I have curly hair that I mostly wear tied back in a ponytail or a bun when I am at work to keep the frizz at bay. This mostly works, but I still end up with short frizzy bits sticking up all over the place near my hairline by the end of the day.
Tommy Guns Smooth & Finish Creme Review

Tommy Guns Smooth & Finish Creme really does control those frizzy bits and even at the end of the day, every hair is still in place. The added bonus is that it does not leave any residue in your hair and it does not leave you hair looking stiff and crispy. You can buy Tommy Guns at Asos or Superdrug and it costs approximately £6.50 for 100ml.  It contains Jojoba Oil for shine & smoothness and Vitamin E to leave hair moisturised and protected.

If you are looking for a serum to do the same job then check out my review of the Ojon Rare Blend Tamer Wand  here.

Let me know what products you use to fight the frizz.

Netflix and Cinema Recommendations - The Killing, Suite Francaise, Fast & Furious 7

If you are looking for something to watch, here are some films and tv shows that I really do recommend.

On Netflix
The Killing - I just binge watched all 44 episodes and I loved it.  This is the US version of the Danish original.  It's dark, atmospheric, has a strong female lead and the relationship between the 2 main detectives (Sarah Linden and Stephen Holder played by Mirielle Enos and Joel Kinnaman respectively) just grows and grows over the 4 seasons.  The one liners that Holder constantly comes out with have to be some of the best on TV.  This is must watch tv and what binge watching was invented for.  I have to say when I got to the end I just wanted to rewatch it all again straightaway.  I can't wait to watch the Danish version to see how it compares.
The Killing USA

In Your Eyes - check out my full review here of this sweet romance involving 2 completely different people who share a unique bond.

Cinema
Suite Francaise - starring Michelle Williams and Matthias Schoenaerts.  This film is based on a book written by Irene Nemirovsky who was arrested because she was Jewish and ultimately was killed at a concentration camp.  Set in France during the early occupation by the Germans during the 2nd world war, this tells the story of Lucille a young French woman whose husband is fighting in the war.  She lives with her disapproving mother-in-law (played by Kristin Scott-Thomas) who won't even let her play her beloved piano until her husband returns from the war.  Once the German soldiers take over the town, they are assigned an officer to live with them.  This is the story of how 2 people who should never be together ultimately find friendship, then love in the most unlikely situation.  The background of the German occupation, is played out alongside a tender love story which ultimately leads to a bittersweet ending. It's hard to imagine how a love story involving a Nazi soldier could be so appealing, but the chemistry between the 2 leads is wonderful and I wholeheartedly recommend this film.  I can't wait to read the book.
Suite Francaise

Fast & Furious 7 - This film comes with a lot of baggage due to one of the stars Paul Walker dying during the filming of this movie.  If you have watched the other 6 movies (of which the last one set in London was my absolute favourite), you get much of the same with the addition of Jason Statham as the bad guy.  You do spend a lot of the movie looking for the parts where Paul Walker is CGI'd, but I have to say that the filmmakers did a great job.  There is a fitting ending to Pauls character (Brian O'Conner) which in turn is a moving tribute to the man himself.  If you come out of the cinema dry eyed then your heart must be made of stone.  Who would have thought that a Fast & Furious movie could be so emotional.

L'Occitane The Magic Key

Don't you just hate it when you can't squeeze everything out of a tube of beauty product.  You end up in all kinds of shapes trying to force the last bit out (it's not just me is it?) or asking someone to try and squeeze the last bit onto your hands.  I could cut the end off but I just don't want to as it ends up messy and going everywhere.

Well I found the answer to my prayers (well for metal tubes anyway).  I went to a beauty event at L'Occitane last year which I really enjoyed and as I was browsing around the store I noticed The Magic Key.
L'Occitane The Magic Key

L'Occitane The Magic Key
You just put the end of the tube in between the 2 metal prongs and twist. It's that easy.  I've used it on a couple of tubes - Jurlique Hand Cream and Davines Authentic Moisturising Balm and it got every last drop out (maybe not every drop but pretty much everything).  There would be no point in cutting the tube as there's not going to be much left to get out after using the Magic Key.  It only cost £6 and I had a 15% discount as well on the night of the event, so it was a great price and something that I will use whenever I get near the end of a product in a metal tube as it's really satisfying to get everything out and not leave product in the tube when you throw it away.

You can find it onsale at L'Occitane here or John Lewis here.

Have you seen any other stores sell something like this?
