This Works Sleep Kit

I am definitely not an insomniac, but it often takes me quite a while to drop off to sleep on some nights as I do find it hard to relax and switch off. I find myself running over things in my head, which keeps me from going to sleep. Generally it's nothing important or anything that is making me anxious, just an inability to relax straight away.

I have tried a few products in the past to try and help with this, but nothing has really made much difference. When I visited Paris last year, I received a free This Works Sleep Kit at one of the hotels I stayed at. I have to say that I didn’t have any need of these products when I was in Paris, as the beds were comfy and I was so tired from walking around all day. Recently, I have been trying these products out, especially on a Sunday night when the old Monday morning blues are starting to rear their ugly heads.
This Works Sleep Kit

This Works Sleep Kit

I start off by spraying the Deep Calm Pillow Spray onto my pillow and then dab a little of the Breathe In oil on to my pulse points just before I go to bed. The Deep Calm Pillow Spray contains Lavender, Vetivert & Camomile to help you relax and stay calm and Breathe In contains an intense blend of Frankincense and Eucalyptus. I have found that these two products really do help me relax on a night and make it much easier for me to go to sleep. I have tried them out on my family as well and they have all had the same results. The sleep kit costs £10 here.

These products have definitely helped me fall asleep much faster than I normally would.

Do you have any recommendations to help aid sleep?

My Challenges for 2015

I set myself some challenges back in 2014 and you can read my final update here. I have decided to set myself some more challenges for 2015, so here's the list of what I hope to achieve:
My Challenges for 2015
  1. Top of the list is to lose weight.  I set myself this target last year and whilst I did lose some weight, it wasn't anywhere near enough.  I did join a gym last year, so I am going in the right direction, but I am going to target myself with losing 2 stone this year and at least 1 dress size.
  2. I want to have 3 no spend months this year.  The no spends are on unnecessary items such as makeup, toiletries, clothes, shoes, accessories and jewellery.  It does not include food, drink, petrol or going out.
  3. I want to use up 10 makeup items.  I find that makeup is the hardest thing to use up, so I will pick 10 items to fully use up and list them in a separate post. This is like the Project 10 Pan Challenge that appeared on You Tube a few years ago.
  4. Go for a proper bra fitting.  This may not seem like much of a challenge, but I have never had a bra fitting, so I think I really should this year and find out if I am wearing the correct size bra.
  5. I want to improve the look of my teeth and I think I will start by trying to get them whiter.  I am going to try a few toothpastes and whitening strips to see if they make any difference and then if not I think I will look at having them professionally whitened.
  6. I have got to do something with my hair this year, as it just seems to be getting frizzier.  I am going to look into Brazilian Blowdrys and other straightening treatments and see what looks like the best option.
  7. I want to learn how to ski.  I have only been to an indoor ski slope once and I was not a natural talent by any means, but I see little kids swooping down the slope and I think if they can do it so can I, so I am going to give it another go this year.  I also want to have another go at Ice Skating as I walked past the Ice Rink outside the Natural History Museum in London a month ago and I really wanted to give it a go, but I didn't have the time.
  8. Have false eyelashes put on professionally, because I have always wanted to try that out.
  9. Improve the condition of my nails as they are in really bad condition at the moment so they definitely need some TLC.
  10. Find a hairdresser that I really like and go more regularly.
I will post a quarterly update to let you know how the challenge is going and a final update in December 2015, to see how many of the challenges I finished.

What are your challenges and goals for 2015?

Wilkinson Sword Intuition Naturals Sensitive Care Razor Review

One of the great things about buying Beauty Boxes (You Beauty Discovery, Birchbox, lookfantastic Beauty Box) is receiving products from brands that I have not come across before, or products from Brands that I am aware of but would never have bought the product.  In one of my You Beauty Discovery boxes I chose to receive the Wilkinson Sword Intuition Naturals Sensitive Care Razor.  Now razors are not that exciting I know, but this razor is one that I can wholeheartedly recommend.
Wilkinson Sword Intuition Naturals Sensitive Care Razor
I will admit to being a bit cheap when buying razors and usually go for the 10 for £2 types.  This usually results in my ending up with razor burn on my legs or with blood running down my legs due to a cut.  These cheap razors are not very gentle and neither am I when I am wielding one it would seem.  Since trying out the Wilkinson Sword Intuition Naturals Sensitive Care Razor I have not encountered any of these problems.

The main reason for this is because the actual razor blade is surrounded by rich creamy soap which allows you to lather, shave and moisturise all in one go.  It does a good job of shaving all the hairs off my legs and armpits (TMI?) and I don't have to go to the bother of using shaving gel (or lets face it hair conditioner more than likely).  My lazy self rejoices when using this product due to its time saving nature.

The soap is enriched with 100% Natural Aloe and enriched with vitamin e and I must admit that my legs definitely feel soft and silky after using this product in the bath. No moisturiser is required after the shave. This is one product that I will definitely buy again.  The Wilkinson Sword Intuition Naturals Sensitive Care Razor retails at £6.99 and is available in Boots, Superdrug and most supermarkets.

Have you tried this razor?

Final Update on My Challenges for 2014

Hey everyone, I'm back and I'm ready to get my blog on. You may (or not) have noticed that I haven't blogged much this year. I was ill just before Christmas and it really knocked me for six and to be honest it's taken me a while to get my blogging mojo back. I've been feeling pretty lazy for the first 2 weeks of the year, but now I'm ready for some action so hopefully I'll get back into posting at least twice a week from now on.

Back in December 2013 I set myself some challenges for 2014.  I posted an update in July here and October here.  Here's an update on my challenges.
  1. Watch 50 DVDs from my collection and then give them away. FAILED. This was a big fat FAIL I'm afraid as I ended up getting Netflix last year and watched more on that then DVDs.  I'm going to try and get round to watching my DVDs this year as I want to declutter and I think I will have a few DVDs that I can get rid of.
  2. Sort out 100 items to get rid of (either sell, throw away or giveaway). This can be any type of item and is all part of the decluttering process. Completed.
  3. Read 20 books from my collection. I moved my original target from 10 to 20 (big mistake I got a bit cocky) and only managed 17 in the end. I'm happy with this amount as it's helped with my decluttering.
  4. Read 25 magazines (mainly bought for the free gifts). Completed
  5. Finish 100 beauty or toiletry products.  Completed
  6. Lose 1 stone in weight (I really need to lose more, but this seemed an achievable target).  After my final weigh-in just prior to the Christmas period I had managed to lose 9lbs over the year.  I'm disappointed with this but to be honest apart from joining the gym I haven't really done anything else so I'm carrying this forward into 2015.  This is a must try harder challenge.
  7. Pay off my credit card debt. I've paid off nearly 80% of the total balance. I'm pretty pleased with this, but I definitely need to watch what I spend this year.  Luckily my credit card is interest free so I'm not paying any interest as long as I pay it off before the interest free promotion runs out.
  8. 30 day no spend.  Completed.  I managed to do 60 days no spend.
  9. Earn £50 from completing online surveys.  Completed
  10. When the 30 day no spend is up I will adopt a 1 in 1 out policy. If I buy something that I don't need, then I will have to get rid of 1 similar item. I have failed this one as I haven't kept track of things, so this is one I did not complete. FAILED
  11. 50km on my exercise bike.  Completed.
  12. Paint my nails a different colour at least once a week and use up 10 nail polishes. I realised early on that my nails were not in great condition so I decided to concentrate on improving the condition of them rather than completing this challenge. FAILED
  13. Sell 100 items on EBay (this is linked to challenge 2, but I am keeping it separate to keep track of how much I manage to sell).  Completed.
  14. 30 days no chocolate. Completed
  15. 30 days no fizzy drinks. Completed
  16. Use up 100 samples of beauty products.  Completed.
  17. No Junk Food for 30 Days.  Completed.
  18. No Eating Out for 30 Days.  Completed.

I think I did ok with my challenges last year.  I definitely could have done better, but I'm happy with the amount I completed.    In the end I completed 12 and failed 6. Not bad but I definitely could have done better.  I feel like a report card would say needs to try harder. In hindsight some of the challenges were hard to keep track of and some of them I pretty much failed before I started.  It has given me a better understanding of the type of challenges I need to set myself this year.

Watch out for my 2015 challenges soon.

Have you set yourselves any challenges this year?  Leave me a comment or a link your post.

Facetheory Cleanser and Toner Review

Blog Post Edited 31/03/2015 - Please note that this review was originally posted on 11th January 2015.  Since that time Foryou Skincare has been rebranded and relaunched under a new name which is Facetheory.  The packaging has been changed but the products are the same.

Facetheory is a new British Brand that produces performance driven, personalised skincare.  I initially became aware of this brand on Facebook and was lucky enough to be chosen to review their M4 Anti-Ageing Moisturiser. After reviewing the product I received a £5 voucher (which I wasn't expecting) to use online.

I filled in their online questionnaire and it was recommended that I try the T2 Sensitive Toner (for all skin types) and the C12 Signature Cleanser (for combination skin). Both these products are offered as a 10ml travel sample as well as full size so you can try out the products without spending loads of cash.
Foryou Skincare C12 Combination Cleanser and T2 Sensitive Toner Review
The C1 cleanser contains avocado, coconut oil and silk to nourish and hydrate your skin. This is a creamy, fragrance free cleanser that you rub onto a damp face and then simply wash off.  My skin was left clean and free of makeup after one wash and my skin did not feel tight or dry afterwards. The C1 Signature Cleanser costs £2 for 10ml and £12.50 for 100ml.

I followed this with the T2 toner which contains aloe vera, grapefruit and witch hazel. This combination softens and cools the skin whilst clearing imperfections.  Simply apply the toner to a cotton pad and gently wipe it around your face.  This felt very gentle and refreshing and is also unfragranced.  It left my skin feeling very clean without any stinging and drying out.  The T2 Sensitive Toner costs £2 for 10ml and £15 for 100ml.

Overall, I thought these products worked really well and I would definitely buy the full sized versions when I am in need of a new cleanser and toner.  I will definitely be buying the exfoliator to try out next.

This is a new brand that only has a limited number of products available on their website at the moment, but I see that as a good thing as it means they take time to create products that work, rather than just flooding the market with a wide array of products all at once.   I love the fact that they offer travel sized samples in order to let you try out the brand for a couple of pounds and I also like the fact that they have an online questionnaire which will guide you to the products most suited to your skin.

Facetheory never test on animals and never use parabens or PEGS.  In addition every product is covered by a money back guarantee.  If you don't like the product they will refund you 100% less any shipping costs and you don't have to return the product to them.  That really is a case of a company having faith in the quality of their products.

Right now if you sign up to their weekly beauty email, you can get 20% off your first order and delivery is free.

Have you tried any products from Facetheory?

I did receive these products free as I was sent a £5 voucher, but I was not asked or obligated to review these products by the company.
