Ojon, MAC & Smashbox Beauty Haul

Here's another Beauty Haul.  This time I went to the York Designer Outlet and popped into The Cosmetics Company Store.  When I've visited in the past the shelves always looked a little bare but this time they had plenty of products and I was like a kid in a candy store, I could have bought loads.  I managed to control myself (a wee bit) and only buy the following items.
Ojon Rare Blend Tamer (see my review of this product here) - £9.50 (RRP £12.50).  This is an instant frizz fix that I can't live without.  It tames my frizz for most of the day even when I go to the gym.
Ojon Rare Harvest - £11.25 (RRP £15). Fortifying Hair Juice (sounds abit weird!!) which protects fragile hair against future breakage.  I thought I would try this out as my hair does tend to break quite easily when I brush it even with The Wet Brush or Tangle Teezer so I thought it was worth a try.  I haven't used it yet but will report back when I do.
MAC Extra Dimension Eyeshadow in Sweet Heat & MAC Nail Lacquer in Soiree
MAC Extra Dimension Eyeshadow in Sweet Heat - £11.75 (RRP £18.50).
MAC Nail Lacquer in Soiree - £7 (RRP £10).
I just loved the bright gold colour of both of these products.
Smashbox Limitless 15 Hour Wear Cream Shadow in Quartz
Smashbox Limitless 15 Hour Wear Cream Shadow in Quartz - £11.25 (RRP £16).  This is a pretty rose gold cream shadow.
I think the York Designer Outlet is well worth the occasional visit.  I really could have bought loads more at The Cosmetics Company Store and I imagine there is a good variety of different products there each time you go.  I also bought a lovely winter coat from French Connection (sorry I've not got a picture of it) that was reduced about £100 and is a really good quality jacket that's just the thing for these cold mornings on my way to work.
Have you visited The York Designer Outlet?  What shops would you recommend?
I bought these with my own money.

Sponsoring Rescued Animals

I love animals and I have 3 rescue cats of my own.  I thought I would write this post for those of you that love animals too, but maybe can't afford a pet, or you don't have the time or space to accommodate a pet.  If that's the case, you could always consider sponsoring or adopting a rescued animal that cannot be adopted and will remain at the rescue centre for life.  Here are some of the animal charities that you can support in this way:
Cats Protection Sponsor - You can sponsor a cat pen at Cats Protection for as little as £6 a month.  By sponsoring a cat pen, you will be helping Cats Protection to give vulnerable cats somewhere safe to live until they find a new home.  You will receive a welcome pack and regular updates on the cats that have stayed in your pen.  You can also log onto the website at anytime to see more of the cats that have stayed in your pen.
If you are not into cats, then what about sponsoring a dog at the Dogs Trust. For £1 a week, you will receive 3 updates a year and a sponsorship pack.
You can adopt a horse or donkey at Redwings Horse Sanctuary for just £12.50 a year.  You will receive a photo and adoption certificate, plus their story and details of how you can visit them.  You will receive a further update and photo just before their birthday as well.

You can also adopt horses, ponies, donkey or mules at Bransby Horses for £10 a year. You will receive an adoption folder containing a certificate and picture postcard of your chosen animal.
You can adopt a wide variety of rescued animals at Hillside Animal Sanctuary including cows, mules, horses, ducks, goats, donkeys, pigs, sheep, hens, rabbits, turkeys and alpacas.  For a minimum donation of £10, you will receive a certificate, twice yearly report and photograph of your chosen animal.  You can also help the sanctuary by gifting a bale of hay for £4 or buying carrots for £5 here.
If you want to adopt an animal slightly out of the ordinary, then what about adopting a primate at Monkey World.  For a minimum donation of £30 (for adults) you receive free admission to the park for 1 year, a photo of your chosen primate, an adoption certificate, a newsletter magazine published 3 times per year and the opportunity to take part in adoption only events.

Finally, you can sponsor a kennel or a kitty cabin at Battersea Dogs Home from just £5 per month.
You could also help a local charity by finding out if they have a wish list on Amazon.  My local Cats Protection has one here.  When I have money to donate, I log onto Amazon and purchase some items from the wish list and they are delivered direct to the rescue centre.
All the above options would make a great gift for any animal lover.  Let me know of any other similar charities that do this sort of thing.  For other ways to help animal rescue centres, why not give your local one a call to find out what they need, things such as towels, blankets & paper can come in handy for bedding, toys keep them active and food never goes amiss.

Marks & Spencer GWP Offer - REN & NUXE

I just wanted to let you all know about a great Gift With Purchase offer that Marks and Spencer has on at the moment.  If you spend £45 or more on nightwear you receive a Box of Beauty containing REN Flash Rinse 1 Minute Facial 40ml and NUXE Huile Prodigieuse 50ml together worth £38.  This offer is available in store and online while stocks last.  I wish I needed some new nightwear as it's a great offer, but to be honest my mum buys me some PJs every year at Xmas so I really can't justify getting anything at the moment as I have loads.  Details of the offer can be found here.

Primark Haul

I recently had a couple of shopping binges and what's a shopping binge without abit of a Primark Haul (it's not just me is it?).  Anyway it's been a while since I posted a Primark haul so here it is.
Primark Haul Black Sports Jacket
I bought this black lightweight jacket to wear when I go to the gym.  This cost £10.
Primark Haul Black Shoes
These black shoes are for work and cost £5.
Primark Haul Cream Shoes
I already have these in navy and they are a nice addition to my shoe collection (if only I had a walk in wardrobe to display them all in).  These cost £6.
Primark Haul Navy Shoes
I loved these navy flats. As I'm quite tall I don't really wear heels that much (even though I still buy them go figure) and I thought these would be great to wear on a night out and no one would ever know how cheap they were (unless they also shop at Primark!!).  These cost £8.
Primark Haul Christmas False Nails
I loved these Christmas nails and at £1 each I couldn't resist them.
Primark Haul PJ's
I love love love these PJ's as they totally reflect my mood on a morning :). These were a bargain at £4 for the top and £6 for the Bottoms (the label said £7).
Primark Haul Workout Armband
I bought this workout armband to carry my phone with me when I'm at the gym, out walking or riding my horse.  This cost £2.50
Primark Haul Note Book
Last but not least I bought a note book to write down all my blogging ideas. This cost £2.

What do you think of my haul? Primark is so easy to shop in as everything seems like a bargain and it's so easy to put everything in my basket.

I posted about the Primark Advent Calendars I picked up as well on one of my shops here but I must admit I haven't seen them again which is a shame as they are a great idea.

Foryou Skincare M4 Anti-ageing Moisturiser Review

Foryou Skincare is a brand that I have just become aware of and I recently received a travel sized pot of the M4 Anti-Ageing Moisturiser to try out and review. I have combination skin which is dry on the forehead and cheeks and oily on the t-zone (although not very oily) and this moisturiser has definitely managed to keep the dry parts of my face lovely and moisturised, even with the cold weather setting in and after turning on the central heating. This product is nice and creamy, but not so thick that it sits on the skin and it absorbs pretty quickly. It has an SPF of 25 which I think is essential in a daily moisturiser. My makeup applies perfectly once I have used this moisturiser as it makes a nice base and I don't need to use a primer. It doesn't have a fragrance which is another plus.
Foryou Skincare M4 Anti-ageing Moisturiser Review

This is a brand that is cruelty-free and this product does not contain PEGS, parabens or perfumes. Overall I really like this moisturiser and I have just placed an order for a cleanser and toner so that I can try out other products in the range. The great thing is that you can try out a 10ml travel pack of this product for £4, before committing to buying a full size. You can also try sample sizes of the cleanser and toners for £2. Each of their products is covered by a money-back guarantee, so if you don't like the product then they will refund the cost of the product minus shipping.

Foryou Skincare also has a questionnaire on their website here, so that you can tell them your skin type and any issues that you have and they will recommend the perfect skincare products for you. I can't wait to try out some other products from this brand and will review them when I receive them.

Have you tried anything from this brand?

I received this product free to review, but the opinions are my own and I have not received any payment for this review.

Harry Potter Warner Brothers Studio Tour London

I recently went to London for a couple of days and thought I would do some touristy things for a change as usually when I visit I don't have any plans, I just do some shopping and eat out at a couple of restaurants.  This time I wanted to be more of a tourist so I found a few things I fancied doing, planned ahead by booking tickets as I'm not a great fan of queueing (I don't have the tolerance) and anything that helps me bypass a queue is a must. Anyway this post is about my visit to the Harry Potter Warner Brothers Studio tour near London.

It was very easy to get to, just a 15 minute train journey from London Euston to Watford Junction.  I used my Two Together railcard which I posted about here,  so it only cost £13.50 for 2 people.  When you arrive at Watford Junction train station you just walk out to the front and there is a bus station to the left and if you are lucky the Harry Potter bus is waiting to pick you up (you can't miss it as it has Harry Potter pictures all over it).  Unfortunately, as we arrived the bus was just leaving (typical), but we only waited about 10 minutes for the next one to arrive.  It was only £2 for a return journey. It's about 15 minutes to the studio and the journey seemed to go pretty quickly so wasn't too bad.  When we got there we just had to show our email confirmation to get our tickets for the tour.  My sister and I decided to do the audio tour which also included a souvenir tour book.  This cost £40.95 which is expensive but I would say worth the money.

Now I should say I like Harry Potter but I'm not a mad fan, I've probably watched each movie once and I haven't read all the books yet, but I love movies in general and the chance to see backstage is something I love to do.  That's one of the reasons I visited LA last year.

I won't put too much information about the actual tour as I don't want to spoil it for people if they haven't had a chance to visit it yet, but I will add some photos below so please avoid if you don't want to know anything about the tour.
Harry Potter Warner Brothers Studio Tour London The Great Hall
I would thoroughly recommend this tour as its was great to see behind the scenes and see the actual sets that they used.  The Great Hall was fantastic and it was amazing to think they had filmed there.  There were props and costumes and anything and everything that was part of Harry Potter felt like it was there.

There was also props outside in the backlot where there was the chance to get a photo on the Knight bus, walk along a section of the Hogwarts  Bridge, sit in Ron's Ford Anglia and knock on the door of 4 Privet Drive.  I also tried the Butterbeer which I didn't like as it didn't taste of anything and it was very weak (was there something wrong with mine?).

All in all I had a really great time and would recommend it to anyone that's a Harry Potter fan or loves movies in general.  It was fun to visit the sets, like walking along Diagon Alley and realise how small some of them were, like the dormitory where they all slept.  We also saw the different costumes from all the films. They even had information on the real animals that appeared in the films.

The audio tour was great as you can walk around at your leisure and when you get to the relevant set press play and it tells you more information about it (there are numbers at each point, so that you can listen to the right part of the audio wherever you are in the tour).  It was really handy to have someone telling you the information as you reached each part of the tour so you know what it was about and which part of the film it appeared in.

In the very last part of the tour there is a large scale model of Hogwarts that is amazing.  I think it was built for the first film if I remember rightly.

This is a must see tour and if you are ever in London I would recommend the short trip outside of London to see this.

Look out for my competition to win a brand new Harry Potter Souvenir Guide Book.

Have you visited the tour?  What did you think?

Christmas Wishlist

There are so many great box sets and palettes out for the Christmas season that I thought I would do a Christmas Wish List post. Here are the products that I have my eye on at the moment and I would be super pleased to receive any of them on Christmas day.

  • The Benefit Cheeky Sweet Spot Box O' Blushes is top of my list.  It costs £29.50 and includes 6 of Benefits box o' powders all together.  The kit includes Dandelion, Sugarbomb, CORALista, Bella Bamba, Hoola, Rockateur & Watts Up. What's not to love.
  • Next up is another Benefit set, this time its the Sweet Tintations box which includes Benebalm, Lollibalm, Benetint (4ml) & Lollitint (4ml).  This box costs £19.50.
  • The Models Own Hypergel Nail Polish Gift Set contains 10 x 10ml polishes. One 14ml bottle usually costs £5.99 and I have constantly been tempted to pick up 1 or 2 everytime I go shopping, but never got round to buying any, so this set of 10 is a no brainer really as it's a bargain and a great opportunity to try out all the colours.  This costs £15 from Superdrug.
  • Christmas isn't Christmas without a Lush Gift Box, so I have picked the Snow Fairy Gift Box.  This costs £22.50 and contains Snow Fairy Shower Gel (100g), Snow Fairy Sparkle Shimmer Bar, The Godmother Soap & Magic Wand Bubble Bar.

  • The Hourglass Ambient Blush Palette looks amazing, so it's definitely on my wish list.  The palette contains 3 shades, Luminous Flash (champagne rose blush fused with Luminous Light), Incandescent Electra (cool peach blush mixed with Incandescent Light) & Mood Exposure (soft plum blush fused with Mood Light).  This costs £56 from SPACE.NK.
  • The Autograph Eye Kit caught my eye because the rose gold packaging on the eyeshadow quad reminded me of Charlotte Tilbury makeup although obviously it's a lot cheaper. The eye kit contains a pure colour quad eyeshadow, ultimate wear eye primer (10ml) & ultimate wear cream shadow stick (3g).  The Eye Kit costs £18 at Marks & Spencer and is currently part of the 3 for 2 offer.
  • I love Jo Malone fragrances, but I only own 1 at them moment, so I would like to add to my collection with the Peony and Blush Suede fragrance.  This is £40 for 30ml.
  • Finally, I couldn't resist looking at the Sephora website now that they offer delivery to the UK.  I could spend a fortune on this site, but then that would change into a whole new post, so I picked 1 box set for my Christmas Wish List which is the Sephora Favourites Give Me Some Lip Box Set which costs approximately £16.50.  The set contains 5 mini lip products and 1 full size lip gloss from brands including NARS, Marc Jacobs, Smashbox & Urban Decay.

I could go on, but I think I will leave it there.  What are you hoping to receive for Christmas?

Primark Jewellery Advent Calendars

I have heard of Chocolate Advent Calendars and Beauty Advent Calendars, but this is the first time I have come across Jewellery Advent Calendars.  I was browsing around Primark recently when I spotted said Jewellery Advent Calendars and since I have not bought a Beauty Advent Calendar yet, I had to buy both Calendars that Primark sold.
The Primark Jewellery Advent Calendar contains 12 pairs of stud earrings, 4 midi rings, 4 ditsy charm bracelets and 4 ditsy charm necklaces and it cost £10.  There is a card attached to the calendar which shows all the jewellery contained inside and it's all stuff that I would probably buy, especially the earrings.
The Primark 12 Days of Jewellery contains 4 pairs of stud earrings, 2 rings, 3 bracelets and 3 necklaces and costs £8.  There is a photo on the back of the box which shows you all the items contained inside the calendar.

Primark also sell a Beauty Advent Calendar for £15, but I did not buy that one as it contained mainly nail polishes and nail accessories.

If you are looking for a cheap alternative to the very expensive beauty calendars that are available right now, then these Primark calendars look like a great option.  Roll on December so I can start opening them.

A number of people have asked me whereabouts I found them in store and they were in the accessories/jewellery section on the end of a shelf.

I bought these with my own money
